Managers want employees to put in long days, respond to their emails at all hours, and willingly donate their off-hours — nights, weekends, vacation — without complaining. The underlings in this equation have little control; overwork cascades from the top of the organizational pyramid to the bottom. At least, that’s one narrative of overwork, where one works long hours because his boss tells him to.
This very narrative serves as the inspiration for our vector illustration, poignantly depicting what it does to the mental and physical state of an employee. The illustration – designed in Adobe Illustrator – showcases a man working late into the night, wishing someone would just hook him up with a strong dose of caffeine to keep him going. He is surrounded by piles of paperwork and his inbox is flooded with mails – possibly informing him of upcoming deadlines and more work. Use the illustration freely, and make a difference in the prevalent culture of overworking propagated by ruthless modern-day organizations through your digital and print content.
