showcase your magazine as a finished publication

A well-designed magazine deserves to be presented as more than a collection of flat page designs. Magazine mockups turn your cover, spreads, and editorial layouts into realistic publication scenes, helping you show how the finished piece could look, feel, and come together in print.

magazine mockups are useful for
  • Presenting magazine covers and editorial concepts to clients
  • Showcasing print and editorial design projects in portfolios
  • Displaying magazine spreads, typography, and photography layouts
  • Creating promotional visuals for new publications and issue launches
  • Presenting independent magazines, journals, catalogs, and other editorial projects

A realistic magazine presentation adds depth and physical presence to your design. Instead of showing individual pages on their own, you can demonstrate how the cover sits on the publication, how spreads look when opened, and how the overall design works as a cohesive printed piece.

find a magazine mockup that matches your publication

The style of the mockup can influence how your magazine is perceived. A clean studio composition may put all the attention on your design, while a carefully styled editorial scene can give the publication a stronger sense of personality and context. Choose a setting that supports the visual direction of your magazine and lets the design remain the main focus.

explore different magazine mockup styles
  • Cover presentation: Clean compositions that place your front cover at the center, ideal for showcasing magazine identities, issue designs, and portfolio work.
  • Open spread: Realistic views of an opened magazine that reveal two facing pages, making them ideal for editorial layouts, photography, articles, and typography.
  • Stacked publication: Multiple magazines arranged together to create a sense of depth, making them useful for presenting a series of issues or a complete publication identity.
  • Close-up detail: Tighter compositions that emphasize the cover, paper, typography, imagery, or other details of your editorial design.
  • Editorial setting: Magazines presented on desks, tables, shelves, or other styled surfaces to create a more atmospheric and publication-focused presentation.

Magazine mockups can also vary in format, orientation, binding, page arrangement, and visual treatment. Whether you're presenting a refined fashion title, an independent publication, a cultural journal, or a contemporary lifestyle magazine, choose a scene that complements the character of the design.

what can you showcase with a magazine mockup?

Magazine mockups can be used to present much more than a front cover. Depending on the mockup, you can showcase individual pages, complete spreads, multiple sections, or different parts of a publication within one realistic composition.

magazine covers

Give your cover design a realistic printed presentation. Magazine mockups are ideal for showcasing mastheads, cover photography, headlines, typography, and cover layouts while giving the design the physical appearance of a finished issue.

editorial spreads and inside pages

Show how your design works across the pages of a publication with realistic editorial spreads. Present feature articles, interviews, photography, fashion stories, contents pages, and other layouts in a way that highlights the relationship between imagery, typography, spacing, and composition.

multiple pages and magazine views

Some mockups include multiple editable areas, allowing you to combine a cover with interior pages or display several spreads within the same scene. This makes it easier to present the visual identity of an entire publication rather than focusing on a single page.

The available editing options depend on the individual mockup. Check the layer structure and included instructions to see whether the file contains one editable cover, a single page, a complete spread, or several Smart Objects for different parts of the magazine.

how to edit and customize our magazine mockups

Our PSD magazine mockups use Smart Objects to make replacing your artwork quick and straightforward. Simply add your cover or page design to the editable area, and the mockup automatically applies the perspective, paper appearance, shadows, highlights, and other details that make the publication look realistic.

  • Open the PSD file in Photoshop or Photopea.
  • Find the Smart Object labelled with a name such as your design here, replace cover, replace page, page, or edit me.
  • Double-click the Smart Object thumbnail.
  • Place your magazine cover, page, or editorial artwork into the document.
  • Resize and position the design so it fills the intended page area.
  • Save the Smart Object document.
  • Return to the main mockup and your design will appear automatically.
fine-tune the presentation

Depending on the mockup, you may also be able to customize parts of the scene around your design. Adjust background colors, shadows, highlights, paper tones, textures, and other available elements to create a presentation that works with the visual identity of your publication.

show the complete publication experience

A magazine mockup can become part of a larger presentation for your editorial project. Combine covers, spreads, typography, photography, branding, and supporting graphics to create portfolio presentations, client proposals, promotional images, or launch materials for a new issue.

Whether you're presenting a single magazine cover, an editorial spread, a series of issues, or a complete publication identity, the right magazine mockup can give your design the realistic, tactile presentation it needs to feel like a finished piece of print.
