logo mockups: see your identity beyond the artboard

A logo can look perfect on a white artboard and still feel completely different once it becomes part of a real brand. Logo mockups give your identity a physical or visual context, making it easier to judge how the mark behaves on surfaces, materials, objects, and everyday brand touchpoints.

use logo mockups to
  • Present branding concepts in a way clients can immediately understand
  • Show how a logo works across different materials and surfaces
  • Create realistic brand identity presentations and case studies
  • Explore how an identity feels before committing to production
  • Build polished visuals for portfolios, websites, presentations, and social media

The real test of a logo starts when it leaves the Illustrator canvas. A mockup can reveal whether the mark still feels balanced when printed on paper, stamped into leather, painted on a wall, engraved into metal, or placed on a storefront.

paper, walls, signs & everything in between: where can a logo mockup take you?

Different environments can completely change the character of a brand identity. A simple black logo may feel refined when embossed on stationery, bold when mounted on a building, or understated when printed on a product. Choose mockups that reflect where the identity is actually going to live.

explore different logo mockup styles
  • Stationery mockups: Present logos on business cards, letterheads, envelopes, folders, and other branded materials.
  • Signage mockups: Show how an identity works on shop signs, office signs, building facades, and directional signage.
  • Wall logo mockups: Give the mark a physical presence with painted, mounted, carved, or dimensional treatments.
  • Embossed and debossed mockups: Explore premium identities through subtle impressions in paper, leather, and other materials.
  • Metal and engraved mockups: Create a more industrial or premium appearance with realistic etched and engraved effects.
  • Product logo mockups: Place branding on bottles, boxes, containers, objects, and other products.
  • Apparel mockups: Preview logos on shirts, jackets, caps, bags, and other branded clothing.
  • Digital logo mockups: Present an identity on screens, websites, devices, or other digital brand touchpoints.

You do not always need to show a logo in the same way it will eventually be produced. Sometimes an unexpected material or environment can help communicate the personality of the brand and make a presentation much more memorable.

flat print, embossed paper, brushed metal or something more unexpected?

Material is part of the presentation. The same logo can communicate completely different qualities depending on whether it is printed with ink, pressed into paper, engraved into metal, cut from acrylic, or rendered as a dimensional sign.

choose a finish that fits the identity
  • Printed: Clean and versatile for everyday stationery, packaging, and marketing materials.
  • Embossed: Adds subtle depth and a tactile premium feel.
  • Debossed: Creates a quieter, more understated impression in the material.
  • Foil: Introduces metallic highlights for luxury, fashion, beauty, and premium brands.
  • Engraved: Works well for metal, wood, leather, and products where durability is part of the story.
  • Dimensional: Gives signage and physical branding a strong three-dimensional presence.
  • Painted: Creates a bold architectural or handcrafted appearance.

A good mockup should support the identity rather than overpower it. If the logo is minimal, a restrained material treatment may communicate more than an elaborate scene. If the brand is expressive, a more dramatic presentation can help bring that personality forward.

how to put your logo into a mockup

Most PSD logo mockups use Smart Objects, allowing you to replace the placeholder artwork without manually recreating the perspective, texture, lighting, or material effects.

  • Open the PSD in Photoshop or Photopea.
  • Locate the editable logo or artwork Smart Object.
  • Double-click the Smart Object thumbnail.
  • Place your logo artwork inside the editable document.
  • Adjust the size and position if necessary.
  • Save the Smart Object and return to the main PSD.
  • Your logo will automatically appear in the mockup with the included visual effects.

Depending on the mockup, you may also be able to change the background, logo color, material, lighting, shadows, reflections, or other presentation elements. This makes it easy to create several variations without rebuilding the scene from scratch.

make the mockup feel like the brand, not just a logo on a surface

A logo presentation becomes much stronger when the environment feels connected to the brand. Think about the audience, industry, materials, colors, and atmosphere before choosing a scene.

build a presentation around the identity
  • Use refined stationery scenes for corporate, consulting, and professional identities.
  • Choose textured paper, leather, or foil finishes for luxury and fashion brands.
  • Use storefront and architectural scenes for restaurants, retail, hospitality, and local businesses.
  • Show products and packaging when the logo is closely tied to a physical product.
  • Use apparel and merchandise scenes for lifestyle, sports, fashion, and community brands.
  • Choose simple compositions when the logo itself should remain the hero.
  • Combine several complementary mockups to present a complete visual identity system.

Logo mockups are not just about making a logo look realistic. They help tell the story of where that identity belongs. Whether it is pressed into paper, mounted above a storefront, printed on packaging, or stamped onto a product, the right mockup can turn a logo concept into a brand people can actually imagine using.
